LONG BIO
Heart, soul, and rock & roll: Josie-nominated singer-songwriter Sydney Riley is embracing the darker side of life. Hailing from Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Sydney's thundering vocals have been described as a balance between Stevie Nicks and Joan Jett. Coupled with heartfelt and emotionally-charged lyrics, Sydney’s songwriting pulls from Folk, Rock, and Alternative music. Her introspective thought process and captivating imagery are both captured in Sydney’s 6-song EP, “Water”.
"Growing up on the beach, I've always felt connected to the waves in a way - they can be a strong source of joy, and also danger. 'Water' captures the need to ride the highs in life, while acknowledging the lows and finding the tools you need to weather a storm."
"Water" debuted in September 2021. Sydney's latest single, "Hired for Healing", released April 2024. Both projects have received spins across local radio stations such as Rock95 Barrie and Max FM Orillia.
Sydney finished up a solo tour across Ontario in June 2023, called "The Hops & Honeycrisps Tour", in an effort to bring patronage to Ontario craft breweries and cideries.
Along with her pickup band, aptly named 'The Bog Bodies', Sydney has played at festivals such as Wintersong, Bitchfest, Tall Pines Music & Arts Festival, Collingwood Art Crawl, Toronto Youth Day, and Gussapolooza. They plan to expand their reach across Ontario throughout 2025.
